Brian Russell McBroom, age 75, a resident of Siren, WI., passed away on January 20, 2025 at home with his loved ones by his side.
Brian was born May 19, 1949 at the Siren Hospital to Harold ("Mac") and Francis (Christensen) McBroom, the second son of their family. He was raised in Siren, graduating from Siren High School in 1968.
Following high school, Brian attended barber school in Eau Claire, WI.
In 1969 he met his future bride at a dance, and it was love at first sight. He went home that evening and told his roommate he had met the woman he was going to marry and asked him to be his best man. Brian then enlisted in the Army, where he served from 1970 – 1972. Brian married his wife, Carol in 1971 and she followed him to Germany where he was stationed until he was discharged in 1972.
Upon return, they moved to Richland Center, WI for 4 years where he completed is barbering apprenticeship. During this time, they welcomed their first child. In 1976 they moved back to Siren, where he took over his father's barber shop on Main Street. Over the next few years, they welcomed 2 more children.
Brian proudly operated his barber shop for 48 years, only fully retiring weeks before his death. Barbering wasn't just a job to him. He truly enjoyed the time he spent with his customers, many of which became like family to him.
Outside of his family, his greatest passion was golfing. In the summers, he could be found on the course several days a week, accumulating 7 holes in one, including the very first one in Siren. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing poker, traveling and gardening. Another passion of his was sports, whether it was high school, college or professional.
Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Mac" and Frances (Christensen) McBroom, and his grandson, Dominic Curtis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Olson McBroom, daughters, Shawn (Timothy) Curtis, Mika (Andrew) Hayes, and Brynn (fiancé Elijah Hinze) McBroom, grandchildren, Jada, Kya, Finn, and Phoebe, along with several nieces and nephews.
