William R. "Bill" Hunter
Age 83, passed away on March 1, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1941, in Saint Cloud, MN, to Roland and Viola Hunter.
In 1964, Bill married Janet (née Soderberg) after meeting her at his cousin's wedding. Together, they built a life in Siren, WI, raising their two children, Greg (Sue) Hunter and Shelly (Jeff) Johnson. Bill was a proud grandfather to Aaron (Natalie), Jessica, Asa, Garret, and Lukas, and great-grandfather to Malik and Miles.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Bill served aboard the USS Lexington. In 1979, he purchased The Pour House in Siren, which became a staple of the community. He was actively involved in local organizations, serving as District Governor of the Wisconsin Lions Club, President of the Wisconsin State Tavern League, and volunteering with the Siren Fire Department. He also spent time coaching high school golf, sharing his love of the game with younger generations.
Bill enjoyed golf, and in his earlier years fishing, but more than anything, he valued time spent with family, friends, and the community he helped shape. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by parents Roland and Viola Hunter, and brother Mike (Carla) Hunter.
Survived by his wife Janet (nee Soderberg), brother Jim (Lorena) Hunter, son Greg (Sue) Hunter, and daughter Shelly (Jeff) Johnson, grandchildren Aaron (Natalie), Jessica, Asa, Garret, and Lukas, and great-grandsons Malik and Miles.
A memorial service with Military Honors will be held on a future date, TBD.
