Mary Huot-Schwietz, 98, passed away on February 25, 2025, in Siren, WI, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on March 26, 1926, in Hibbing, MN, to Joseph Mehle and Julia Arlich. Mary wed Martin Huot in 1949 and they were married for 49 years. Together the couple raised seven children in their Bloomington, Minnesota home.
Mary worked at The Sun Newspapers for many years and retired with her husband, Marty, to Siren, WI. She loved to travel and was an avid gardener. Mary spent hours working in her yard and garden and was an incredible baker; her homemade bread was legendary. She was a woman of service, volunteering in her community, at the nursing home, library, church, 4-H, and whenever a friend or family need arose.
Mary became a widow after the death of Marty in 1998 and after some years married Jack Schwietz, until his death in 2019.
Mary is survived by daughters, Renee Rose (Steve Gorr), Julie Neisch (Brent), Patricia Coleman (Bruce), Karen Guettler (Nick), Peggy Huot Hansen (Rick), Janet Huot; son, Ted Huot (Brenda); 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Herman and Bud; and numerous nieces and nephews.
