OBITUARY FOR BRIAN M. MCMASTER November 6, 1954 – December 11, 2025
Brian M. McMaster, 71, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and currently resided in
Goose Creek, SC, passed away peacefully at home on December 11th with his loving wife and child by his side.
Born on November 6, 1954, Brian was the son of the late John and Naomi (Hoff) McMaster. He was a proud graduate (1972) of Spring Grove Area High School, enjoying being involved in sports. His love for teamwork and friendly competition continued well beyond graduation as he played slow-pitch softball with various local teams for nearly a decade.
Brian's career reflected his steady work ethic, craftsmanship and commitment to others. He worked as a mason and finished carpenter at Hoffheins Brothers Inc. from 1972 to 2001 and later with the York County Assessment Office and Lowe's in
Goose Creek, SC until his retirement. He was also a certified safety instructor for the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association, proudly sharing his passion for snowmobiling and safe riding practices with others across Pennsylvania.
Brian loved life's adventures, whether riding his Goldwing motorcycle down country roads, snowmobiling, or watching a good sporting event. A lifelong fan of NASCAR, dirt track racing, Penn State football, Steelers football, and Orioles baseball, he could talk sports with anyone and always had a spirited opinion ready to share. He also had a love for Walt Disney World which started when his parents took the family camping there in 1971, the year it opened, followed by family annual trips for many years.
He found great joy in traveling with his loving wife, Janet. Together they created a lifetime of memories through their many Disney World vacations, which for Brian started as annual family vacations as a teenager starting in 1971, as well as special trips to Ocean City, Maryland, the Smoky Mountains of
Tennessee, cruises to tropical destinations and Christmas holidays in Bermuda.
Before relocating with his wife to South Carolina in 2012, Brian was proud to be part of the Hanover community and valued the friendships he built through years of membership in the Hanover VFW Post, Spring Grove VFW, Hanover Republican Club, Hanover Moose, Hanover Home Association, and Hanover Eagles.
In addition to his loving wife, Janet (Harpster), Brian is survived by his child, Travis (Jeremy) McMaster; his brother, Scott (Tina) McMaster; his sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Ulrich and Laura (Brian) Taylor; and 19 nieces and nephews who adored their "Uncle Brian." He also leaves behind his two faithful, rescued dogs, Bailey and Josie, who were never far from his side.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents John and Naomi; his brother John and his sister Linda Sandruck.
He lived life with enthusiasm, humor, and heart. Whether helping a friend, cheering on his favorite team, or taking a ride on his Goldwing, Brian made every moment count. His laughter, gift of gab, and love of life will be remembered always by his family and friends. Brian's memory will forever bring a smile to those who were lucky enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation in Brian's memory to either Berkeley Animal Center in Monks Corner, SC (www.casberkeley.org) or Agape Care Group Hospice Carnation Foundation (https://carnationfoundation.org).
The family will host a celebration of Brian's life at a later date in Pennsylvania, where his life will be honored with love and laughter.
