Mulvane- Brian Lawrence Nelson, 48, passed away peacefully in his home on October 29, 2025. Brian entered this life on September 30, 1977, in Wichita, KS, the son of Richard Nelson and Debra (Hively) Nelson.
He was a lifelong resident of Mulvane, KS. He attended school at Mulvane and was a member of the 1996 graduating class. After, graduation he attended Cowley County Community College majoring in Airplane and Powerplant program. Throughout his life, he was a man of many talents including being a custodian, warehouse worker, and cook. Yet one of his most cherished passions was the love for his daughter MaKayla.
Beyond work, his passions included spending time with a family, cooking, reading, enjoying music and westerns, gaining historical knowledge, and spending time with household pets. Being an avid sports fan, you could find him cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Oklahoma University Sooners in the fall, Wichita State Shockers in the winter and the Kansas City Royals in the Spring.
Survivors: Daughter MaKayla Nelson, mother Debra Nelson, sister Staci Nelson-Hughes, Grandma Loma Hively, nieces Sophia Hughes and Madison Hughes all of Mulvane, KS. Numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family. Significant other Tamara Self, bonus daughters Andriena, Chyna, and Joselyn all of Mulvane, KS. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Nelson, grandpa George Hively, and uncle David Hively.
