Brian Keith Reynolds passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2024 in his home in Williamston, NC.
Brian was born on June 9, 1970 in Greensboro, NC to the late Rev. Walter Reynolds and Mrs. Thelma (Fryar) Reynolds. He was the youngest of four children and grew up attached at the hip to his father, often traveling and working closely with Rev. Reynolds.
Brian had a keen intellect and was formally educated at North Carolina A&T State University. There he earned both his Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Business) and Master of Science (Agricultural Education). He was also a proud graduate of James B. Dudley High School.
Brian had several careers over the span of his life with his greatest love being horticulture and agriculture. Most recently he was an agriculture educator and FFA (Future Farmers of America) advisor with Bertie County Schools. He taught in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system as well. Entrepreneurship was important to Brian. He worked with his father initially and later independently as the owner of several companies focusing on horticulture installation and maintenance services. Early in his career, Brian worked with New Garden Landscaping and Nursery. His time as the greenhouse manager at NC A&T was one of the joys of his career. For over twenty years Brian also worked for various trucking companies as an over-the-road driver.
Brian was active in community life and served on numerous committees and with various groups improving the lives of citizens and the physical environment. He most recently served on the board of The Good Shepherd Food Pantry and as manager of the Windsor Farmers Market both in Bertie County North Carolina. As a teenager and young adult, he played piano for St. James Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Fair Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Most recently he was a member of Living Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent of Sunday school.
Brian's energy could fill a room, and he was known for his booming laughter. He enjoyed listening to music, watching and reading science fiction, traveling, enjoying various culinary delights, and meeting new people. No matter where he was, he was going to touch, examine, and identify a plant giving its exact scientific name in Latin.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Walter Reynolds and brothers, Reginald Reynolds and Walter (Ken) Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents.
Brian is survived by his wife, Carmen Johnson Reynolds and son, Gabriel Reynolds. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Thelma Reynolds and sister, Sharon Reynolds. He was a fun, caring uncle to his nieces and nephews– Tamika Reynolds, LaKeisha Reynolds, William Johnson, Samuel Gladden, Daniel Gladden, Manuel Gladden, Devin Mitchell, Alexis Johnson, and Pervis Johnson, Jr. He is also survived by a loving host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended relatives, and friends.
