Brittany R. (Sitlington) Gardenhire, 37, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
She was born on February 7, 1988, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Gloria Anderson and Jon Sitlington.
Brittany graduated from Washburn Rural High School in May of 2006. She earned her LPN at Washburn Tech, her RN at Allen County Community College and Mary Grimes School of Nursing and continued her education by taking courses at the University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University. Brittany spent her career in nursing at Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital, Providence Living Center, where she achieved the position of Director of Nursing, and most recently, at the Shawnee County Women's Prison.
Brittany married the love of her life and best friend, Travis Gardenhire, on February 13, 2016. Family was Brittany's greatest treasure, which was evident by the sparkle in her eyes when she spoke about them. She would happily drop anything to be there should someone needed her, and she enjoyed going on family adventures: from traveling for the kids' activities to trips to the amusement park; motorcycle rides with her club family to her trip to the pet store to purchase Sunflower, the fish, for her sweet niece. Brittany lived life to the fullest. Her beautiful smile could light up any room, especially if she were teasing her not-so-little brothers or joking with friends. With her caring heart and fierce spirit, Brittany made sure everyone she met felt see, heard, accepted and most importantly, loved. This was reflected in her work as a proud 3rd generation nurse; Brittany brought love, care and joy to her patients. Even when she was for more ill than those she cared for, she continued to pour out love and compassion. Our beloved Brittany had an impenetrable faith in Jesus and loved as He did, even during the hardest parts of her battle. She will forever be an example ot us all.
Brittany is survived by her faithful husband, Travis, beautiful children: Clarity, Camara, Travson, Chauntasy, Travis II, Travossia, Travion and Caydance; granchildren, Jax and Aubrey Gogian, Travis Gardenhire III, and Tyla Carter. Brittany felt so lucky to be blessed with a wonderful mother, Gloria Anderson and two devoted dads, John Sitlington and Phil Anderson all of whom; as well as, maternal grandma, Nola (Ed) Fulmer; loving brothers, Paul (Simone), Jacob (Vanessa) and Andrew Anderson, Aunt Sara Anderson, niece Nola and Nephews Ansel, Braeson, and Hayes, as well as countless other family members and close friends.
