Obituary
Bruce A. Noftsinger, 74, of Tuscarawas Township, "one of the last good cowboys," passed away peacefully at home, with his son at his side, early Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023. Born in Massillon, October 26, 1948, a son to the late Paul A. and Dora M. "Dooie" (Farrar) Noftsinger, Bruce graduated from Tuslaw High School with the Class of 1966. He briefly attended the Ohio State University before beginning his apprenticeship as a bricklayer with Canton BAC Local 6. He went on to become one of the most skilled and respected professional craftsmen in the country and around the world.
Despite his professional credentials, Bruce preferred a private lifestyle, especially after he retired; enjoying the company of family and a few close friends. He had attended Calvary Baptist Church of Moffit Heights and was a long-standing member of Clinton Lodge 47 F&AM. His social memberships included the Sons and Daughters of Herman, and VFW Post 232 in Amsterdam, Ohio. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was kind, and always ready and willing to lend a hand, working until the job was done. Even as his declining health brought limitations, he faced life squarely, on his own terms, without bitterness.
Predeceased by his parents, and brother-in-law, William LeCount; Bruce is survived by his son, Bruce Brad Noftsinger; granddaughter, Brooklyn M. Noftsinger, sister, Victoria LeCount, and brother, Jay B. Noftsinger (and Christine Herbruck), all of Massillon. Bruce was also an important father-figure to his (step) son, Jason Bruegger. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and –nephews; and his life-long friend, Mike Ziegelhoffer.
Family and friends will join Fr. Michael Seifert in celebration and thanksgiving for Bruce's remarkable life, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Visitation will precede the service, from 9:00–10:45 a.m. with a Masonic ceremony at 10:45. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. The family also extends sincerest thanks to the physicians and staff of Aultman Hospice, to dear friend Tracy Bonner, and to others who asked to remain nameless, for the special care and attention shown to Bruce, making it possible for him to return home. Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added to his on-line guestbook at www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
