Bruce Anthony Schexnaydre, 69, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Bruce was born on October 17, 1954 to the late Neal and Geraldine Schexnaydre. He was a graduate of Destrehan High School and remained a resident of St. Rose the remainder of his life.
At the age of 22, he married his childhood sweetheart Sally Lambert on September 24, 1977. Together they built a life based around family for the next 46 years. Bruce was the proud father of daughters Megan (Chris) and Mandy (Freddie). The true loves of his life were his seven grandchildren Aubrey, Jayda, Christopher, Chaz, Cruz, James and Linen. After a 26 year career at Shell / Motiva, he spent his retirement doing his favorite activities: fishing at his camp in Des Allemands, visiting with friends, and the occasional visit to the blackjack tables on the Coast. He lived the majority of his days engaging in his most cherished pastime: doing anything and everything with his beloved grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as "Pops."
He is preceded in death by parents Neal Sr. and Geraldine Schexnaydre, brother Neal Jr. and sister Cheri.
He is survived by wife Sally, daughters Megan (Chris) Westbrook and Mandy (Freddie) Wienhusen, and grandchildren Aubrey, Jayda, Christopher, Chaz, Cruz, James and Linen.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Memorial Celebration of Life on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at L. A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Words of Remembrance Ceremony at 11:00 a.m.
