Bruce Lee Smith, born on September 14, 1961, in Clarksburg, WV, passed away on September 29, 2025 at the age of 64. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother, whose life was marked by his generous spirit and dedication to his family.
Bruce had a successful 45 year career as an electrician with the IBEW Local Union 596 in Clarksburg, where his skills and work ethic were widely respected. He was a graduate of Morgantown High School, and he carried the values of hard work throughout his life.
An outdoorsman at heart, Bruce enjoyed a variety of activities that connected him to nature. He spent many cherished moments on the lake with his family or in his garage with his loyal companion, Lola. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn, as well as racing lawn mowers, a hobby that symbolized his love for hotrod cars. His appreciation for the outdoors was reflective of his personality and he was always willing to lend a hand to get things running. Bruce lived by his own mantra: I know stuff and I fix things.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Denise Albertazzie Smith, who was his steadfast partner through all of life’s adventures. Bruce also leaves behind his sons, Heston Lee Smith (Olivia Rachel Carros) of Seattle, WA, and Hayden Grant Smith (Maria Augusta Goudy) of Morgantown. Additionally, he is mourned by his brother, Phillip Smith and sister-in-law, Sherri, of Charleston, SC, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Albertazzie, of Morgantown; brothers-in-law, Tom Albertazzie (Jolie), of Argyle, TX, Gary Albertazzie (Tia), of Morgantown; nieces, Lyndsey and Kaylyn Albertazzie, of Morgantown, Hayley Zahorecz (Eric), of Argyle, TX, Elaina Smith, of Morgantown; nephew, Tom Albertazzie (Jenn), of Riverside, CA; as well as several great nieces and nephews and a host of devoted friends who were like family to Bruce.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brother, Eric Smith; and brother-in-law, Skip Albertazzie.
Friends and family will be received at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3346 University Ave., Morgantown, on Monday, Oct. 6th from 4pm – 7pm. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, Oct. 7th from 10am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Fr. Brian Crenwelge as celebrant and Fr. John DiBacco as homilist.
A graveside committal service will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
