Bruce Eugene Tipton, age 75, of Marshall, passed away September 27, 2024, during the
flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. He had lived his entire life beside the French
Broad River. He was born on June 15, 1949, in Madison County to the late Coleman and
Robena Clark Tipton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three
brothers; Pete, Elbert and Guy Tipton and one sister Patty Meadows.
Bruce was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served on the USS America during
the Vietnam War and was later employed at the shipyard where he trained as a welder.
Bruce could fix or install just about anything, and did many projects with his late brother
Pete, as well as for family and neighbors. He spent many evenings outside sitting and
riding the golf cart up and down Rollins with his sister Betty who will miss him dearly.
Bruce had a contagious laugh and loved hearing a good joke. Bruce was a kind soul
who was most happy when he was helping people. "A great soul serves everyone all
the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again" (Maya
Angelou). Bruce will be missed by all who knew him and will be remembered fondly. Left
to cherish his memory is his daughter, Rachel Lynn Tipton; close friend of 16yrs Alicia
Manuel; sister, Betty Pressley; six grandchildren, Austin, Brittney, Jessie, Mikayla,
Reagan and Skylar; six great grandchildren; nieces Mary Jane Wallin, Annette Ipox,
Donna Sue Hensley, Michele Tipton, and Annie Meadows; nephews Mark Tipton,
Charlie Tipton, Jay Tipton, Matthew Tipton, Ronald Dean Tipton, Dwight Tipton and
several great nieces and nephews.
"So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one
will take your joy from you."-JOHN 16:22
