Emily Brunell McDowell Brown, 93, of Augusta Circle, widow of Gordon E. Brown, Sr., passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at NHC Healthcare of Greenwood.
Born April 6, 1932, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late W. Elester and Eva Havird McDowell. A graduate of Greenwood High School, Mrs. Brown retired from Park Seed Company.
She was a faithful member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church and was a charter member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church on Panola Avenue.
She is survived by two sons, Gordon Edgar "Eddie" Brown, Jr. of West Columbia, and Ray (Kris) Brown of Greenwood; a daughter, Dianne (Barry) Haynes of Bradley; and one brother, Gilbert McDowell of Sanford, NC. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Les (Richenda) Brown, Jonathan "Andy" (Shannon) Brown, Krystal Brown, Brian (Ashley) Haynes, Andrea Brown, Heather Shirley, and Dillon (Emily) Shirley; great-grandchildren, Evan Brown, Ella Brown, Harrison Brown, Ashley (Kierian) Wilmot, Joab Brown, Hailee Sammons, Chandler Sammons, Patrick Haynes, Nolin Hayes, Owen Haynes, Adleigh Brown, Averly Brown, and Lawrence Shirley; one great-great-grandchild, Callie Wilmot; and special friends, Buddy and Vickie Hastings and Ann Harring.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard McWhite officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
