Bryan Scott Bashrum of Frisco, Texas, passed away on September 18, 2024, at the age of 29. Bryan was born to loving parents, Scott and Donna (Maines) Bashrum, and spent his childhood in North Texas, surrounded by a close-knit group of family and friends. Bryan accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior as a child. He grew up attending Prestonwood Baptist Church where he was baptized at age 10.
Later, he attended high school at Lucas Christian Academy. Bryan was a gifted student, an accomplished pianist, and a national champion gymnast.
Bryan pursued his goal of becoming a physician by attending Samford University in Alabama in the University Fellows program, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors with a degree in Biochemistry. He was also a proud member of the Pi Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
After college, Bryan was accepted to medical school at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center after spending a year gaining hands-on experience as an Emergency Medical Technician with Acadian Ambulance, reflecting Bryan's commitment to helping others.
During medical school, Bryan completed a research fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery - Sports Medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he continued his published medical research.
Bryan was beloved for his kindness, compassion, and for his faithful friendship to many. Never motivated by his accomplishments, he found his joy in impacting the lives of others. He was already known as a talented healer with a caring demeaner providing compassionate care.
Bryan is survived by his parents, Scott and Donna Bashrum of Frisco, Texas; sister Brelyn Bashrum of Carrollton, Texas; and brother Brett Bashrum of Frisco, Texas; grandparents, Doug and Jackie Bashrum of Fredericksburg, Texas, Larry Kent Thompson of Lubbock, Texas; uncle and aunt, Mark and Vivian Bashrum of Austin, Texas; cousins, David and Tracy Shaw of Lubbock, Texas, Summer and Dana Palmer of Lucas, Texas, Aiden Bashrum of Buena Vista, Colorado, Ava and Audri Shaw of Lubbock, Texas; and a host of other numerous loving family and friends. Bryan was preceded in death by his grandmothers Billie Arlene Thompson and Bobbie Bashrum, and his aunt Bobbie Carlene Shaw.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, October 3, 2024 at First McKinney Baptist Church, 1615 W Louisiana St, McKinney, Texas 75069. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately after the service in the Chapel at the church.
