Buford Eugene Light

CHURCH HILL – Buford Eugene Light, 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 6, 2025, after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.
Buford was saved in his teenage years, and he was previously a member of Vermont United Methodist Church, First Freewill Baptist Church of Church Hill. He was also a founding member of Cross Point Church, where he attended as long as his health would allow. Buford was known to have one of the best bass voices in the area. He sang with several gospel groups including, The Crusaders, The Advocates, The Landmarks, Brothers Forever and The Brotherhood Quartet. Buford retired from the City of Church Hill after 25 years of service where he also proudly served as a firefighter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Light; parents, James and Mary Light; brothers in Law; Jim Carter, Joe McCarroll, Don Flanigan and Toy Flanigan.
Buford is survived by his children, Lori Lane (Jamey) and Susan Hall (B.H.); grandchildren, Taylor Lane and Madison Aldridge; sisters, Charlotte Carter and Linda McCarroll; Brothers-in -law, Clark and Frank Flanigan; along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to his team of Doctors from ETSU Health, along with the wonderful nurses, CNAs and staff of the sixth floor at Holston Valley Medical Center, their care, and compassion will never be forgotten!
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mitch Russell officiating. Music will be provided by The Eternals. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Carter, Lawrence Carter, Pete Culotta, Adrian Smith, Danny Blankenbeckler and Mark Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Taylor Lane and Roger Spradlin.
