C. Joyce Fisher, 88, of Seymour, passed from this life at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Seymour Crossing.
Mrs. Fisher worked at Amos Plastic in Edinburgh for many years before retiring. She loved dogs and was a big fan of Elvis. Raised on a farm, she continued to attend barrel races, trade horses and raise farm animals with her husband, Kenneth, until his passing in 2011. She would remind us of Granny on The Beverly Hillbillies. Before her stay at the nursing home, granny always carried a gun, would have a shot of Jack Daniel's in her morning coffee, had a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, all while peeling potatoes. She cussed like a sailor, chased cows and rode horses. To have known her is to love her and all of her crazy. Her delicious thanksgiving dinners, especially her homemade rolls, will be remembered for years to come.
Survivors include her children, Russanna "Rusty" (Walter) Lair of Westport, Jerry D. Horne of Colorado; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and sister, Judy (Charles) Ford of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; children, Debbie Lee, Donnie Horne, Cheryl Fisher, Mary Catherine Callahan; sisters, Delores Wagers, Darlene Jones, Sue Smith, Loretta James and brother, Terry D. Winchester.
Visitation only will be held for Mrs. Fisher Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike. There will be no formal funeral service. A graveside service will be conducted after visitation at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery ~ Waymansville with Pastor Luke Maggard officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
