Jane Simmons, age 90, longtime resident of the Ovid area, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2025, following a several years as a resident of Huntington Nursing Home.
Jane was born in Ithaca on January 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Paul L. and Reva (nee Landon) Dean. In addition to raising her family of four, she had worked as a stenographer in the meteorological department of Cornell University, and then later retired as a secretary at the Seneca County Highway Department.
Jane is survived by her husband, Andrew “Andy” Simmons of Interlaken; her children, Jeff (Laura) Teeter of Interlaken, Gary Teeter of Ovid, Victoria Post of Ovid and Nancy (Chuck) Neal-Buisch of Lawndale, NC; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Combs of Reynoldsville who passed away just days later on January 22nd, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dora (Bill) Bush, Velma (Don) Teeter, Ruthie (Merv) Hammond and Fay Combs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ovid VFW on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Burial at Hector Presbyterian Cemetery will be held privately by the family. Kindly consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association in Jane’s memory.
