C. David "Dave" Ostrander, 81, of Owego, New York, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at home. David was born in Sidney, New York to the late Charles E. and Lillian A. (Jackson) Ostrander. Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his first wife of 44 years, Beth Ann (Bently) Ostrander. David is survived by his current wife, Carol A. Meyers Livermore Ostrander; his sister, Kathryn Ostrander; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marcia Ostrander; stepdaughters and their husbands, Rachel and Brooks Moses, Caroline and Daniel Layman; four grandchildren, Xavier, Rosalyn, Benjamin, Theodore; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. During WWII, David's father served in the U.S. Navy, as a result David, as an infant, moved to his grandparent's farm with his mother and was raised working on the farms in the Newark Valley area. In 1962, he graduated from Newark Valley High School, 1965, from Broome Technical Community College (Engineering Physics), 1968, from State University College – Cortland (BS – Physics), 1972, from State University College – Geneseo (MS – Science Education). In 1968, David started teaching Math and Physics at Owego Free Academy, until his retirement in 2004. He was active with the Owego United Methodist Church, the Tioga County Historical Society, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Tioga Relay for Life (Cancer), Tioga County Senior Citizen Board, Tioga County Election Inspector, Ye Olde Country Florist, and co-owned with his wife, Carol, Carol's Coffee and Art Bar. David took great pride with the upkeep of his yard and enjoyed gardening. David enjoyed supporting the grandchildren's sporting and special events. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and love of the Lord. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. Burial will follow in the Broadway Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in C. David Ostrander's memory to the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main Street, Owego, NY 13827 or the Owego Little League, P.O. Box 2, Owego, New York 13827.
