Obituary of C. Robert Rapine
C. Robert Rapine
C. Robert "Bob" Rapine, 98, of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Born in Norristown on December 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Absolem Alonzo and Carrie Mae (Weisel) Rapine.
He graduated from Norristown High School, class of 1943. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II.
He was the owner and operator of Norris Upholstery Shop in Norristown for 50+ years. He took pride in his craft and produced many beautiful pieces of furniture for his customers.
Bob was a member of Norristown Masonic Lodge No. 620 F & AM and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Norristown Forest No. 31.
He was also a volunteer fireman with Norris Hose Company and Montgomery Fire Co.
Bob excelled at water skiing and was a charter member of the Port Indian Ski Club on the Schuylkill River. At the club he met his wife, Jane. They both performed in many ski shows and the annual Port Indian Regatta where his speciality was ski jumping.
Bob loved athletics and enjoyed coaching baseball and softball at Plymouth Little League. His coaching style was always kind, positive and encouraging.
Later in life he took up golf and spent nearly every summer evening with his trusty seven iron chipping balls up and down the lawn. He loved going to Woody's Golf Course and, with a group of friends he met there, played every Sunday morning until the course closed.
The thing he loved most was spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren. Pushing them on the tree swing, swimming, playing cards, making them pancakes and watching their athletic events - he loved every minute of being a Pop Pop.
He was an all-around wonderful guy and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jane (Lee) Rapine of Plymouth Meeting, son Dr. Robert (Jennifer) Rapine of Ambler, daughter Melissa Rapine of Plymouth Meeting, also survived by his grandchildren Reed (Grace) Rapine, Molly Ann Rapine and Jack Rapine.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Carolyn "Cis" O'Bryne, Absolem A. Rapine, Jr., William H. Rapine, Betty Raquet and Chester E. Rapine.
His Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM from Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA.
Friends may call on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
