Cael Weaver Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes- Holt Delhi Chapel on Aug. 11, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Cael Allen Weaver was born in Lansing, MI on June 5th, 2000, to Dale and Ami (Krause) Weaver.

A friendly, kind person, Cael was ready with his wonderful smile and an ear for people who needed one. He was generous with his time and with his help. He had a great laugh and often had a mischievous gleam in his eye. He was a calm, steadying presence, and a loyal friend.

An extremely gifted athlete, Cael poured everything he had into whatever sport he played, but lacrosse was the sport of his heart. He played at an elite level and travelled all over the country-from Baltimore to Denver. He never put the stick down. When he was small, he would tuck the stick into bed with him. He never fully recovered from the catastrophic knee injuries that ended his career.

He loved tennis and participated in Delhi Township tennis camps every summer (and learned very quickly in tennis, unlike baseball, you do not want to smash the ball into next week. I am sure the people in the last court were surprised when a random tennis ball fell on their court and then was retrieved by a sheepish 7-year-old!) More recently, he discovered pickle ball and loved playing with the wonderful people in the Delhi Township adult league.

He was highly competitive and utterly fearless, always up for an adventure. He loved college sports and was a staunch Michigan State fan (Go Green!) and avidly followed their football, hockey, and basketball teams every year. He attended many hockey games with his sister. He slogged through the swamp that is being a Lions fan every year. A keen motorsports fan, he attended all types of races from local dirt tracks to NASCAR as often as he could. He loved cycling, completing the DALMAC three times, starting at age 14. He once rode from Lansing to Higgins Lake in one day with a friend-147 miles. He was an avid gamer with his brothers and friends. He enjoyed spending time at Higgins Lake at the cabin and taking out the kayaks as well as fishing at Hillman. He also loved math, music of all types, and driving his Fiat 500, Frosty.

Cael is survived by his parents; siblings Noah, Sam, and Molly; grandparents Jan and Nancy Krause of Chesaning, MI and Mary Vogelaar of Hillman, MI; aunt Brandi (Aaron) Welch and cousins Alice and Piper of Oak Park, IL; BFF Justin Coscarella; his cat, Celeste; and so many friends who were the same as family.

He is preceded in death by his uncle's Mike Krause and Robert Elliott; granddad Tom Weaver; and step grandpa Papa Dan Vogelaar. Several cats (and possibly tarantulas) were waiting anxiously at the Rainbow Bridge.

We love you, Quail. You were a sweet, kind little boy who grew into a kind, thoughtful man. There is no way to express what an amazing human you were and what you mean to us. We will carry you in our hearts and miss you more than words can ever say. Memorials may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society

(cahs-lansing.org) in honor of Cael.

There will be a Celebration of Life August 16, 2025, from 2pm-4pm at Valhalla Park's north pavilion, Holt, MI. The entrance to the park is off Keller Road. The pavilion is the one furthest back, near the woods.
