Columbiana - Candace "Candy" O'Brien, age 74, of Columbiana, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on August 5, 1951, in Salem, the daughter of the late Donald and Myrna Kline McBride.
Candy was a 1969 graduate of Crestview High School and was a member of First Christian Church of Columbiana. She was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated much of her time to raising her family. Candy also worked outside her home where she was employed with Ohio Bell for twenty years and the Dutch Haus Restaurant in Columbiana for eleven years. She enjoyed the simple things in life. She liked gardening, baking, shopping and taking walks in the park. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and absolutely loved watching her son umpire at the Scrappers baseball games. Candy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Michael Wayne O'Brien, whom she married on September 24, 1977; son, DJ O'Brien of Columbiana; daughter, Ashley (Dan) Jones of New Waterford, and by her brother, Randy (Regina) McBride of Corinth, MS. Also surviving are her beloved cats, Mack and Sammy.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, with Pastor Cindy Figley officiating.
Candy will be laid to rest at the Columbiana Cemetery.
