Carl Bohanon

Royce Carl Bohanon, born April 10, 1957, in Tyler, Texas, passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 67 in Tyler, Texas.
He was the beloved son of the late Roy Bohanon, Jr. and Onys Jane Little Bohanon. Carl was a 1975 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler.
A lifelong resident of the area, Carl was a proud member of several local congregations over the years, including Noonday Baptist Church, Tyland Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and Flint Baptist Church.
Carl dedicated much of his life to the trucking industry, a field he truly loved. He worked as a driver and in parts, sales, and repair. Outside of his career, Carl was a lover of sports. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and golf, and he remained an avid sports fan throughout his life.
Carl's life was filled with friendship and laughter. He cherished his Saturday morning breakfasts with his brother, Derrell, and their group of friends. His faithful dog, Rip, was always by his side, a loyal companion for the last several years of his life.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra Bohanon Liles. He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Jessica Bohanon Dyson and her husband, Ellis, of Katy; brother, Derrell Bohanon and his wife, Beverly, of Flint; and his cherished grandchildren, Rylie Dyson and Chase Dyson of Katy. Carl is also survived by his nieces, Jamie Hancock and her husband, Michael, of Flint, and Dr. Crystal Bohanon of Flint.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler.
Carl will be remembered for his kind heart, social spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
