Carl Edward Commuso, 87, of Baldwin, IL; born on June 16, 1938 in DuQuoin, IL, the son of James Henry and Pansy Opal (née, Taylor) Commuso; passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at home.

Carl served his Country in the United States Army for 20 years before retiring as a combat engineer. When Carl returned from the service he worked for the Colorado Springs Police Department for twelve years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing or working in his garden. Carl also enjoyed camping in his camper and working around his house. He loved working on old cars and spending time with his wife, Janet.

He is survived by one son – Steven Todd Commuso of Walsh, IL; two grandchildren – Brandi (husband, Mathew) Holdman of Chester, IL and Elijah "Eli" Wilson of Red Bud, IL; three great grandchildren – Austin, Mathew and Walker, all of Chester, IL; one brother – Lawrence "Larry" (wife, Julia) Commuso of Sparta, IL; son-in-law – Bruce Julius of Red Bud, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife – Janet Commuso; daughter – Kristen Joy Julius; brothers – James David Commuso, Clarence Eugene Commuso, Raymand Clyde Commuso, Gilbert H. Commuso, Pete Norman Commuso, and Charles "Chuck" Commuso; sister – Nellie Marie Sadler; half-brother – William Robert Warren.

It was his wish to be cremated, and graveside services will be held at a later date.

Carl and Janet were my neighbors I lived down the street from them for 35 yrs. They were very nice we would bring them eggs from our chickens they always talked to us when we drove by we will miss them very much
