COLTON - Graveside services with Military Honors for Carl L. LaBrake, 78, a resident of Colton, NY will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton. Family and friends may attend calling hours at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday from 4-7p.m. Mr. LaBrake passed away suddenly on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne, of Colton; his two sons, Stephen and his wife Mia LaBrake, of Johnson, VT and Brian and his wife Jennifer LaBrake, of Manes, MO and his beloved 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Carl is also survived by his siblings (Mary Teresa GNSH, Ella, Neil, Jane, Sharon, Margaret/Peg, Patricia/Patty Lou, Kathleen/Kathy) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and brothers George Jr., Donald, William, Harold and sister Agnes.

Born in Lisbon at the family farm home, one of fourteen children on March 22, 1947, to the late George and Hilda Crump LaBrake. Carl graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Ogdensburg and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant (1966-1970) and later entered the U.S. Army Reserves retiring as a Major (1974-2007). He married Suzanne McCullouch on July 25, 1970. Carl was a member of the IBEW Local 910 Electrical Union and recently received his 50-year IBEW certificate. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his wife, working on small engines, tractors, assisting neighbors and family friends with anything not working around their homes, and most of all, hunting whitetail deer in the fall at Sampson Pond Hunting Club.
