POTSDAM / SKERRY - Funeral services for Joan C. (French) Phillips, 88, a resident of 223 Hogan Road, North Bangor, will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Rev. Lee Sweeney presiding. Burial will be held in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Parishville, following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Mrs. Phillips earned her wings early Sunday morning, September 7, 2025 at the Alice-Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Joan is survived by all her children, Raymond Patnode, Donald (Sarah) Phillips, Joyce Patnode, Ruth Premo, Diane (Marvin) Lecuyer and Bev Genaway; her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy, Jenna, Jody, Jimmy, Sandra, Amber, Jenny, Michael, David, Dawn, Joshua and Nevaeh. Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Joan was pre-deceased by her parents Elwin and Ruth, her siblings, Maurice French, Arnold French, William French, Lloyd French, Robert French, Maxine Eisner and Bonita Gonyea and a son-in-law, Tracey Premo.

Born at home in Skerry, NY on May 14, 1937 to the late Elwin and Ruth Fountain French, she was schooled locally at the Skerry Country Schoolhouse. A marriage to Samuel Patnode ended in divorce and she later married Donald Phillips. Donald passed away in January of 1996. Joan worked and retired from Clarkson ARA Food Service after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Parishville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years and moved back to Skerry after retirement to be near family. She was the last surviving sibling in her family and resided with her son Raymond until her passing. Memorial donations in Joan's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com . The Buck Funeral Home in Colton is serving the family of Joan C. Phillips.
