In Loving Memory of Carl Lewis
Carl Lewis passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2025, at the age of 51. Born on July 11, 1973, in Oceanside, California, Carl spent his early years near the ocean before moving around and ultimately settling in Kirksville, Missouri.
Carl is survived by his wife Leslie; one son, Nathan Lewis; and step-daughter, Taniya Wesby.
Carl had a deep love for helping others and was a familiar, smiling face at the Salvation Army, where he worked for several years. At home, he was a kind and devoted husband and a loyal friend who always made time to lend a helping hand.
Carl enjoyed many hobbies, especially repairs and carpentry, where his natural skill and passion shone. He loved watching drag racing (Particularly Cleetus McFarland on YouTube), caring for and playing with the family pets, spending quiet moments at home cuddling with family, watching movies, listening to music, completing houshold duties together with his wife, playing games, and visiting with friends.
Through his dedicated public service, his unwavering support and love for his wife and family, and his generosity in sharing his talents, Carl touched countless lives. He will forever be remembered for his loving heart, fun-loving spirit, and the joy and hope he brought to those around him.
A celebration of Carl’s life will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center, located at 1004 W Gardner St, Kirksville, MO. Light refreshments will be provided following the service. To honor Carl’s vibrant spirit, we invite attendees to wear colorful attire—black is not required.
For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on his wife, Leslie Lewis's Facebook page, (https://www.facebook.com/leslie.lawson.92). In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent directly to Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel. Your support and kindness during this time mean the world to us. Carl was so deeply loved, and we thank you all for keeping his memory alive.
