Carl D. Lindblom, Jr., age 85 of Parma, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Vlasak) for 57 years; loving father of Julia Roach (Kevin), Dave (Lisa), and Diana Lindblom; devoted grandfather of Tristan and Clara Roach, and Gavin and Nicholas Lindblom; uncle and friend to many.
Carl was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and grew up in Detroit, MI, where he graduated from Mackenzie High School. He traveled to Ohio for college, earning a bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace. He retired as an IRS agent after 35 years. Through the AARP, he volunteered to help retired people complete their taxes. Carl was an avid hockey fan, rooting for the Detroit Red Wings. As a baseball fan, he followed the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians. Carl enjoyed reading, listening to jazz, and basking in the warm sun. He walked over 1,500 miles with the Cleveland Hiking Club. Carl participated in various activities at the Parma Senior Center, where he was a member of the Sunshine Singers. Musically inclined, Carl was a member of the 79th Army Band from 1962-1964, playing the clarinet. He played in various bands throughout the years, including the Cleveland Clinic Band, Cleveland Letter Carrier Band, and Swinging Bavarians.
A visitation will be held for Carl from 11am - 1pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 7501 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH 44129. A graveside service with Army military honors will follow at Woodvale Cemetery, Middleburg Heights, OH.
