Carl Olson Obituary
Carl L. Olson, PHD, age 83 of Meadville passed away Wednesday morning, January 29, 2025, in Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Newark, NJ on November 12,1941 the son of Carl and Rose (Haspel) Olson, On June 29, 1968, Carl married the former Peggy Eisenhower, she survives. He was a graduate of Union High School, received his BA in Liberal Arts from Penn State University in 1967, Master of Divinity from Drew University in 1970, and his PHD from Drew University in 1977.
He was a professor of religious studies at Allegheny College for 36 years.
Carl wrote 22 books and multiple publications, enjoyed attending football and basketball games with his friend Lloyd Michaels and enjoyed visits from his friend Glen Holland.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 56 years; two daughters, Holly Paz and her husband Marlon of McLean, VA, Kelly Olson of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Gary Olson of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Ben, Alex, and Sophie; several cousins and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant Jeffrey Olson.
A Memorial service will be held at Allegheny College at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. 581 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE. Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. Meadville, PA 16335.
