Carl Arthur Postlethwait born March 1, 1947 of Littleton, West Virginia, passed on, Sunday, October 13th, 2024 in Metz, West Virginia at the age of 77. He passed in the comfort of his own home which he and his wife Charlotte shared for 54 years. During his lifetime he served for four years in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during Vietnam. He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mannington Branch, 250 Royal Rd., Mannington, WV 26582. He also worked in the coal mines as a master electrician in Robena Prep Plant mines for 33 years before retirement. Prior to his death, he had a love for: riding horses(lady), motorcycles (specifically Harley Davidson), watching his grandchildren play sports, such as softball, baseball, football, basketball, soccer, the gospel, his farm, hunting, fishing, but most of all, his family. He had such a love for family and friends. "To be known by him was to be loved by him." This statement is true about him in every aspect of his life. Everyone he met; he loved in his own special way. Carl could be found at a table in Mannington McDonalds everyday but Sunday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Glen (1991), and Mary Ann Woods-Postlethwait (1999); sister, Etta Louise Postlethwait (in childhood); his brother, Glen Postlethwait (2007); sister, Diane Postlethwait (2020); and his daughter, Christina Postlethwait (2024).
He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Postlethwait; sister, Ruby Chatterly; brother, Charles Lester (Charlie); sister-in-law, June Postlethwait; daughter and son-in-law, Carrin and Kelly Powell; son and daughter-in-law, Carl Brian and Marilyn Postlethwait; daughter and son-in-law, Cassie and Wyatt Spencer; grandchildren, Nicole Sawyer and Jeremy Nice, JD Williams, Chelsea and Lance Keezee, Brittany and Zachery Shaffer, Christian Sutton-Collins, Aaron Williams, Brian Gregory and Allison Postlethwait, Colby Jeffery Andrew Collins, Kateland Williams and Joseph King, C. D. Collins, Matthew and Tia Spencer, and Caylynn Spencer; great-grandchildren: Analeese Sawyer, Calvin Sawyer, Sadie Price, Eden Keezee, Carson Shaffer, Ella Postlethwait, Parker Shaffer, Caspian Williams, Lindsay Postlethwait, William King, Cutler Keezee, Elijah Sawyer-Nice, Declan Williams, Waverly King, Desiree' Postlethwait, and Barrett Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, from 2-8pm, Friday, where funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 19th. Interment will be in the Postlethwait Cemetery at Big Run. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.hutsonfuneralhomes.com.
