Carl Michael Redlin

Carl Redlin was a man of adventure and accomplishment, living every day of his 94 years to the fullest. Born in Detroit, MI, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Detroit and served as a Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard. He was brought to California and ultimately Seal Beach in the early 1960s by an illustrious career as an aerospace engineer with McDonnell Douglas, followed by time in Utah as a McDonald's Owner. He met his "sweetie-pie", Kay, a few years after arriving in California, while out dancing at the Golden Sails. The couple called Seal Beach home for the next 60 years.

Recognized in his later years as the handsome old man with the full head of white hair, he and Kay could be spotted nightly, holding hands as they strolled Main Street after getting their nightly dinner at The Hangout.

An adventurer at heart, Carl was a fly fisherman, expert sailor, elite skier, sailplane pilot, Porsche purist, and model airplane enthusiast. His motto, "live it up!", inspired those around him to embrace life fully, as he did.

Carl's legacy lives on in Seal Beach through his family who remain here: his loving wife Kay, step-children, Kelly Martinez and Mark Isenberg, granddaughters Melanie and Natalie Martinez, nephew Frank Gonzalez, and his cherished great-grandsons, Kayden and Carter Vivier.

All who loved Carl are invited to join in honoring him, January 17, 2026, 11am at St. Anne's, followed by burial at 12:30pm at Forrest Lawn - Cypress, and celebration of life at 2:30pm at The Hangout.
