Carl "Ed" Edward Townsend, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 67. A resident of Mableton, Georgia, Carl was born on April 1, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia.
With a career that spanned several decades, Carl served as a Production Manager at Graphic Source, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. Outside of his professional life, Carl took great joy in traveling to watch his children and grandchildren play ball on numerous fields. He was also an avid fan of golf and NASCAR.
Carl is survived by his loving daughter, Laura (Greg) Christopher; his grandchildren, Trey and Kinsley Christopher; his nephew, Jake (Ashlee) Townsend, and his great-nieces, Aimee Ryan, and Harper Townsend. He will also be remembered fondly by his uncle and aunt, Harry and Pat Winter, his sister-in-law Donna Townsend, as well as Amanda (Nathan) Fishback, and her children, Kaylei, Xander, and Kopelynn, and Jeremy (Summer) Price, who brought joy to Carl as niece and nephew and grandnieces and nephew. He is also survived by his "grandpup," Daisy May.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Edward Townsend Jr. and Carla Annette Townsend, as well as his brother, Bradley Townsend.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Roy Davis Funeral Home in Austell, Georgia, on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Carl’s life will be held at the same location on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park immediately following the service.
The Townsend family has entrusted arrangements to Roy Davis Funeral Home, Austell, Georgia. Carl’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
