Funeral services for Carl Weigand will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Ruwaldt officiating. Burial will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Carl Warren Weigand, son of the late Carl and Helen J. (Wesner) Weigand, was born July 2, 1935, at Alva and passed away April 12, 2025, at Muskogee, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 10 days.
Carl was raised in Alva graduating from Alva High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State College and began his teaching career. While teaching in Colorado, he continued his education and gained his Masters Degree and Doctorate Degree from the University of Northern Colorado. He eventually became a school administrator working until his retirement.
On December 11, 1952, he was united in marriage to LaDonna Mae Bratcher at Perryton, Texas. Together they had three children, Michael, Marsha, and Michelle. They made their home in Colorado and Southwest Kansas before returning to Alva.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was also on the Board of the Cherokee Strip Museum and the Runnymede Board. After his retirement, he did carpentry work for various people which kept him busy. In 2022, he moved to Tahlequah to be near family.
Besides his parents, Carl and Helen, he was preceded in death by his wife, LaDonna; his son, Michael Weigand; his great granddaughter, Taylee Mae; his son-in-law, Joe Trammel; and his sister, Linda Bath.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Marsha Trammel of Tahlequah, and Michelle Nelson and her husband, Kip, of Carrier; daughter-in-law, Colleen Weigand of Ft. Collins, Colorado; his brother, Dennis Weigand and his wife, Janet, of Edmond; his sister, Jan Rauh of Basor, Missouri; brother-in-law, David Bath of Loveland, Colorado; his grandchildren, Tyler Trammel and his wife, Rena, Jennifer Trammel, Brandon Trammel and his wife, Errin, Carly Nelson, Colby Nelson, Jonathan Weigand and his wife, Kathryn, Christina Davis, and Rebecca Wohlers and her husband, Chad; great grandchildren, Trayson, Tinzley, Bailey, Raegan, Tate, Tessa, Rachel, Cassandra, Hailey, Zoe, Colton, and Addison; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the First Baptist Church or the Cherokee Strip Museum.
