Carla Mae Swanson, age 67, De Pere, passed unexpectedly on September 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Carla was born on December 26th, 1955, to the late Carl Vander Bloeman and Phyllis (Steffens) Vander Bloeman. Carla lost her father Carl to cancer at the young age of six. Carla's mother Phyllis remarried Doug Larson and together they raised Carla and her three siblings.
Carla attended Annunciation grade school and graduated from Green Bay West High School, class of 1974. Upon graduation, Carla met the love of her life. They married in 1975 and raised their two beautiful children early on in Bonduel and later the Green Bay area.
During her children's younger years, she was a proud stay at home parent while also working various part time positions. Carla worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant and a CNA with St. Vincent Hospital. After many years of service, she retired in 2019.
Carla's children & grandchildren were her entire world, she was very involved in their lives, and they brought her much joy. A very social person, Carla welcomed all & enjoyed conversation. She had a zest for life, nature and loved cycling with her husband Dave. Carla enjoyed attending yoga retreats & developed many special friendships full of love & support. An avid reader, you could often find her deep in a book. She and Dave shared a passion for music and loved to dance when they got the chance. In recent years, Carla had focused on caring for her husband, ensuring he attended all of his Rock Steady Boxing & dance classes. She reminded him daily to stand tall & talk loud! Carla loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends gathered around the table with music and good food.
Carla is survived by her husband, Dave, their two children Elizabeth and Joshua (Carrie), and her five grandchildren, AnnaRose, Azalyah, William, Emily, and Ava.
She is also survived by her siblings, Dan (Jennifer) Larson, Jenny (Keith) Runnoe. Brothers & sisters in law, Tom Schultz, Diane Swanson, Jim (Maureen) Swanson.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents Phyllis and Doug Larsen, her Father Carl Vander Bloeman, Sister Debra Schultz and her mother and father-in-law David and Eileen Swanson.
The family invites you to join them in a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay. Viewing time, 9:00 am-11:00 am, service to begin at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you spend time with your family and the cherished memories you make. Do what makes you happy, be with who makes you smile, laugh as much as you breathe, and love as long as you live.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital for providing such loving and attentive care and emotional support for her family.

Dave and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Carla's passing. I got to know the two of you through our Rock Steady Boxing class. Carla was always upbeat and kind to everyone in the class. I feel lucky to have gotten to know her. Rock Steady will not be the same without her.
God Bless you and your family.
