Carlo L. Casella, 89, of Wenonah, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Carlo dedicated his career to education, serving as a teacher before retiring as a school administrator with the School District of Philadelphia. A proud founding member, football coach, and mentor for the Oak Valley Vikings, Carlo's passion for football remained a central part of his life. He was a devoted Penn State fan, though his loyalty did not extend to the current coach.
Affectionately known as "Chubby" by close family and friends, Carlo cherished his time spent vacationing with his beloved wife, Jane, watching college football, and enjoying winters in Florida. He found joy in gathering with friends for breakfast and relished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for sharing a wealth of wisdom with those fortunate enough to hear it, Carlo leaves behind a legacy of love, guidance, and unforgettable memories.
Carlo is survived by loving spouse Mary Jane (nee Morgan), children, Charles Casella, Carl Casella, and Janine (Jill) Casella; Grandchildren, Nina (Tom) Petruzzi, Nicholas (Ivana) Casella, Benjamin Seacrest, Gavino Casella, Kyle Casella, and Josie Casella; Great Grandchildren, Cole, Jake, and Owen Carlo Casella; also by brother, Michael (JoAnn) Casella and family friend Maria (Cutuli) Casella.
Predeceased by his parents, Charles, and Jean (nee Fonto) Casella and brothers Louis (Maria) Casella and John (Betty) Casella.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Visitation, Friday, January 24, 2025, from 9:30am - 11:00am at Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. Memorial Mass at 11:00am in Church. Final disposition will be at a later date. Online condolences can be made at https://www.smithfhmantua.com/.

Scott and Karen Morrow

February 2, 2025

Our hearts are heavy with Mr. C's passing. Due to distance, we didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked with Mr. and Mrs. C over the years. But our lunches in their beautiful home were something we eargerly planned and truly looked forward to every time we were in Jersey. Scott had the opportunity this past summer to enjoy long conversations with Carl. Such a blessing!! We pray for Carl, Jane and the entire Casella family and hope that their grief be somewhat lessened in the knowledge that they are kept in all of our hearts and in God's loving embrace.
