85, died Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Rennes West in Peshtigo. Carlos was born September 13, 1937 in Green Bay. He grew up in the town of Holland and attended St. Francis grade school and proceeded on to the Kaukauna Technical School. He entered the Army in 1956, where he learned to operate Cranes while in France. Carlos operated heavy equipment throughout his working career and was also a skilled craftsman in welding, plumbing, electrical, and especially carpentry. Digger was quick witted and usually had a few jokes to share. He was also an avid racing and Green Bay Packers fan.
Carlos married Diane Reinke in 1959 and they had four children together. Carlos was preceded in death by his daughter Joann and son William.
Survivors include former wife, Diane Brochtrup Hovey; children: Christy and Michael; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lucy, Rayne, Vanessa (Bryan) Schaller, Olivia (Justin) Gotschalk, Grace (Danny Altork) Brochtrup, and Aubrie (Eric Weisnicht) Brochtrup and Edan; great grandchildren: Eli, Bella, Kingston, Lydia, Forrest, Asher, Evelyn, Miles and Sierra.
Visitation for friends and family will be Monday, May 8, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at BRETTSCHNEIDER TRETTIN NICKEL FUNERAL CHAPEL. A memorial service will follow at the funeral chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Deacon Gib Schmidt officiating.
