Carlos Rodriquez Brown was born July 9, 1974, in Nashville, Tennessee to Shirley Robinson Brown and Charles Brown. He entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Carlos was educated in the Metro Nashville Public Schools System, graduating from Whites Creek High School in 1995. He worked for Metro Water Service for 18 years, retiring in 2024.

He was a son of the Kings Lane Community, living on Trumpet Circle, surrounded by childhood friends who are like family. In addition to his neighborhood family, Carlos joined another network of friends like family through Prince Hall Lodge #1, F&AM, PHA Nashville, TN.

Carlos was an accomplished, local rap artist going by the surname “Poetry” and had successfully produced tracks and videos through the independent music scene. He was also a great sports enthusiast, loved all sports and talked smack about different sports teams. His favorite football team was the Los Angeles Raiders.

All who loved and knew him, will miss his funny sense of humor and wit, his prophetic and insightful conversations about life and community, his ability to look out for everyone in the neighborhood, his phone calls to family and friends just to check-in, his kind spirit and willingness to help anyone in need, and the love for family that he showed until his final moments.

Carlos is proceeded in death by his father, Charles Brown, sister Shevonne Brown, maternal grandmother, Lena Mae Smith and paternal grandmother Pecolia Brown and paternal grandfather Athea Brown.

Those left to cherish his beloved memory are his loving mother, Shirley Brown, aunts Regena (Jimmy Sr.) Davis, Martha Butler, Pamela Brown, great aunt, Alberta Shelton; uncles, Larry Robinson, and James Ester Brown. Devoted cousins Sara Davis, Jenean Davis, Racquel Davis, Jimmy Davis, II and Ingrid Robison, Lamont Jordan and Keith Jordan. A dear friend Sabrina Raines, and a host of cousins and friends.
