Born in Gafanha da Nazare, Aveiro, Portugal, he has lived in Union for many years. He retired from Local 472 in Newark. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph's RC Church in Maplewood and loved telling stories of his years at Sea. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved teaching them how to make Easter Portuguese bread "Folar" and "Ginja" liquor.
He was the beloved husband of the late Luisa Ferreira; the loving father of Maria Mourato, Jose Ferreira, John Ferreira, Mario Ferreira and Carlos Albino Ferreira. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, along with daughter's-in-law, son-in-law, many nephews and nieces, and a brother.
