Carlos E. Gonzalez, 62, of Wayne, N.J., passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, to Carlos Alberto and Rosita (Peña) Gonzalez, Carlos was raised in Colombia before immigrating to the United States in 1996. He first lived in North Bergen, then Passaic Park, and eventually made his home in Wayne, NJ.

Carlos had a lifelong passion for aviation and often dreamed of earning his pilot's license. He also loved flying drones and brought them on his travels. He was an avid Formula One enthusiast and enjoyed attending races whenever he could. From 2018 until his passing, he worked as a licensed architect at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, contributing to numerous remarkable projects throughout New York City. Architecture was one of his greatest passions.

Predeceased by his parents, Carlos is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years, Ayse Polat; his cherished daughter, Ayza Rose Gonzalez; his sister, Maria Claudia Gonzalez; and his nephew, Julian Senosiain.

Religious services, with interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, were held privately. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 23, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., with Words of Remembrance beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls.
