Jan Kazimierz Michalski

Jan Kazimierz Michalski, 73 of Oakland, N.J., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Born in Wroclaw, Poland to Robert and Stanislawa (née Skorupa) Michalski, Jan was raised in Poland and immigrated to the United States in 1981. He first settled in Detroit, MI, later made his home in Rhode Island for many years, and eventually moved to New Jersey in 2015.

A visionary in the textile industry, Jan owned and operated several companies over the course of his career, and most recently worked at E & W Textile Processors in North Haledon. His unmatched expertise and deep understanding of the field made him a sought-after consultant, with many companies relying on his specialized knowledge and creative solutions.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Wojtek Michalski. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Danuta (née Pyzio)

Michalski; his loving children, Margaret Barcohana, John Michalski and his wife, Monika, and Caroline Stella-Acierno and her husband, Jim; and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Charles, Sophie, Lily, John, Emerald, Ruby, Audrey, James, and Katie. He is also survived by his dear sister, Ella Szwaja and her husband, Jerzy; his nieces, Zosia and Sabina and his nephew Staszek.

The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, July 30 from 5-7 p.m. at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. Interment at South Hampton Cemetery will be private. Online memories and condolences may be shared at gaitamh.com.
