Carlton Joseph Wilson Sr (Joe), 82 of Johnstown went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with his wife Pamela on Sunday June 15, 2025, at Ellis Hospital Schenectady NY. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born on October 27, 1942, in Gloversville, NY. He was the son of the late Howard and Edna Mae Briggs Wilson.
Joe proudly served his country in the US Army as well as the US Navy until he was honorably discharged. Joe worked for the Johnstown School District, as well as Twin City Leather. He also coached his son's baseball games for many years. Joe loved being with his family. Joe could always be found with a smile on his face. He enjoyed the little things in life such as talking to his children/grandchildren and playing with his great grandchildren. He also loved the NY Yankees, to whom he had been an avid fan for many years. Joe enjoyed going out to eat with his family, loved sitting outside enjoying the sun or going to Dunkin donuts for a decaf mocha coconut iced coffee. He loved to take long rides in the car and enjoyed going on vacation to his wife and his favorite vacation destination VA Beach. He loved to go to church. He attended many churches throughout his life but found great comfort in Perth Bible Church. Joe was a member of the Johnstown Loyal Order of the Moose for many years and was given a Veterans award this past year.
Joe was predeceased by his loving wife Pamela Jean VanAlstine Wilson who he married on June 28, 1966. She passed on April 30, 2015.
He was also predeceased by siblings Beverly (Bill), Howard Wilson, Edward Wilson (Gladys), Burton Wilson (Diane), David Wilson (Roylene), Donald Wilson (Barbara), Lorraine Dutcher (Robert), and James Wilson (Char).
Joe leaves behind his daughter Cheri Joy Wilson Thompson (Don), his two sons Carlton Joseph Wilson Jr. (Vikki), and Scott Raymond Wilson (Emily). Sister Barbara Stowell (Keith), Thomas Wilson (Jean). Grandchildren Sarah Bedell, Courtney Thompson, Amanda Thompson (Tony), Andrew Wilson (Mackenzie), Timothy Wilson, Kristen Wilson (Trace), Jordan Wilson (Alannah), Tyler Wilson, Alaina Sahler (Jonah), Alan Downing, Scott Wilson Jr, Pacey Wilson (Emily), Brendan Wilson. Great grandchildren Serenity, Miles, Keegan, Kinlee, Caroline, Talia, Zeke, Averi, Parker, Baby J (on the way), Colton, Briella, August and Carson.
Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Funeral services will be directly after with Pastor Jordan officiating followed by a graveside committal with military honors at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.
