Carmela M. McGill

Carmela M. McGill (née Reale), age 96, a Naperville, IL resident since 1972, formerly of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 23, 1929, in Queens, NY.
Beloved wife of the late John T. "Jack" McGill, whom she married on April 15, 1956 and who preceded her in death on May 5, 1979, loving mother of Kevin (Lori) McGill of Bolingbrook, IL and Paul (Lisa) McGill of Aurora, IL, adored grandmother of Meghan (Jason) Bloom, Allison (Tony) Sassorossi and Grant (Gina) McGill; Kyle (Madeline) McGill, Jack McGill and Jenna McGill, cherished great-grandmother of Keegan and Barrett Bloom, Camden jand Nolan Sassorossi, and Zoe McGill. Devoted daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (née DeLuca) Reale, dear sister of the late Rosie Chibarro and the late Nick Reale, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many.
Carmela grew up in Queens, NY and was a graduate of New Brunswick Senior High School. She moved to Naperville in 1972 and was a resident of Cress Creek for many years. A loving and devoted homemaker, Carmela also worked at Squibb Pharmaceuticals. After moving to Illinois, she later worked as a claims processor for MetLife Insurance in Aurora, IL and for the Piazza family doctor's group in Naperville.
Carmela was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was a former member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, both in Naperville. She enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles. Her most cherished memories were spent with her family. She loved to babysit her grandkids and adored being a mom-mom and nana.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, 9:30-10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Thursday, 10:30 AM in the church.
Family and friends will meet Saturday, October 4, 11:45 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville for graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carmela's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
