Carmen Ruth Detherow

Carmen Ruth Detherow, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, just one day shy of her 88th birthday. Born to Goody and Edith (McDonald) Greer on November 18, 1936, Carmen was raised on a farm in Webster County, Missouri, where she learned the values of hard work, family, and faith.  

On September 11, 1954, she married the love of her life, Henry Detherow Sr., in Harrison, Arkansas. Together they embarked on a life filled with love and adventure. As Henry Sr. served in the Army, Carmen followed him across the country, raising their children with strength and grace. Her unwavering dedication to her family was evident in every sacrifice she made, putting their needs above all else. 

Carmen worked for 13 years at Fasco Industrial Plant, but her heart was always at home, where she found joy in being a homemaker and caring for her loved ones. Family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her happiest memories included sight-seeing trips to the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado and the simple joy of time together. 

Carmen's passions included square dancing and reading her Bible, where she found comfort and strength in her faith. Her gentle spirit and love for the Lord guided her throughout her life, and she now rests in the arms of Jesus, having completed a lifetime of devotion and care. 

She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and her unyielding love for those she held dear. Carmen's legacy is one of selflessness, dedication, and faith—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Carmen is survived by: three sons, Don Detherow (Anita), John Detherow (Katrina), Henry Detherow (Tara); two daughters, Lisa Maples, Julie Hurley; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. 

Carmen is preceded in death by:her parents, Goody and Edith; her husband, Henry Detherow Sr. and a son in-law, Paul Maples. 

Carmen will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those she leaves behind. 

A Committal Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2024, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri with Pastor Curtis Cox officiating.   Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri.
