Carol Lynn Barranger, known affectionately as Lynn by her friends and family, passed away peacefully in the warm embrace of the Aruban sun on October 21, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on July 25, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, Lynn grew into a loving, wise, and creative soul whose presence enriched the lives of those around her.
Lynn's early years were marked by a passion for learning and the arts, which she pursued with vigor at the University of Maryland, College Park. There, she studied film and industrial education, a field that combined her love for visual storytelling with a keen understanding of the technical aspects of production. Her education led her to a fulfilling career as a video producer with Honeywell, where her talents shone and her work was highly esteemed by her peers.
Beyond her professional life, Lynn was a licensed realtor, a career that she embraced until her retirement. Her clients often spoke of her genuine care and expert guidance through one of the most significant decisions of their lives. Her wisdom and integrity made her not just a realtor but a trusted advisor and friend to many. She joined many groups in her retirement, and thrived in the Daughters of the Nile where she put her talents of charity and leadership to work.
Lynn's zest for life was evident in her diverse interests. She had an insatiable love for travel, seeking new adventures and experiences in far-flung corners of the world. The theater was another of her passions, as she relished the opportunity to witness the unfolding of stories on stage. Music filled her soul, and she was a regular at concerts, where she celebrated the talent and creativity of artists. Her own artistic pursuits were a testament to her creative spirit, as she found joy in making art that reflected her vision of the world. Dancing was yet another avenue through which Lynn expressed her vitality and joy for life.
Family was the cornerstone of Lynn's world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy Carnahan, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they raised their daughter, Cassandra Carnahan, instilling in her the values of kindness, curiosity, and the importance of following one's dreams. Lynn's sisters, Jeanette Daymude, Loretta Barranger, and Lisa Henderson, shared not only their childhood with Lynn but also an unbreakable bond that continued throughout her life. They supported each other through life's triumphs and trials, and their sisterhood remains a testament to the love they shared. In addition, her extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws carry on her memory to this life and the next.
Lynn's legacy is one of love, creativity, and wisdom. Her ability to see beauty in the world and in people, to create connections and build memories, will remain an inspiration to all who knew her. She approached life with a sense of wonder and an open heart, qualities that drew people to her and made them feel cherished in her presence.
As we say goodbye to Carol Lynn Barranger, we celebrate the life of a woman who was a beacon of light and love. Her memory will continue to guide and comfort us, much like the stars that shine above the ocean she so loved. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit remains a guiding force in the lives of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her grace and compassion.
In remembering Lynn, we honor a life lived with intention and joy, a life that was a work of art in itself. Her story-a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and wisdom-will be cherished and retold for generations to come. Lynn's journey may have come to a close, but the impressions she left on the hearts and minds of those she encountered will endure forever.
Visitation will be held at Harry Witzke Funeral Home 10am to 12am, and 2pm to 4pm on November 22nd. Funeral service will be held on November 23rd at First Lutheran in Ellicott City at 130pm. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Daughters of the Nile Foundation through their website donfdn.org for Shriners Hospital for Children. Lynn was a member of Zitta Temple No.27.
