Carol Rae Borcher (nee Goetz) departed from this life on October 7th, 2025. She is survived by her three children, Tom Borcher (Valerie Louis), Sherry (Paul) Green, and Linda Borcher, her siblings Bill Goetz, Peggy Morenz, Barbara Bucher, and Larry (Cathy) Goetz, as well as her beloved grandchildren Rachel (Brad) Weidner, Olivia Green, Meredith Green, Henry Green and Howie Green, and great-grandchildren Dominic and Margo. Carol also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carol was born on September 13th, 1944, in Newport, Kentucky, to Ray and Flo Goetz (nee Simon). She grew up with guidance from her older brother, Bill, and lovingly cared for her younger siblings, Peggy, Barbara, and Larry. While attending Corpus Christi grade school, she met her lifelong friends, Ellen (Gabriel) and Elaine (Collins).
After graduating from Our Lady of Providence High School in 1962, Carol married Tom Borcher (Sr) and they settled in Elsmere, Kentucky, where their three children were born. She worked part-time, enjoyed bowling and gardening, and raised Tom, Sherry, and Linda with love. In 1976, the family moved to a farm in Melbourne, Kentucky, where she continued caring for her children. She worked full-time as a bookkeeper for the Heileman Brewing Company and later for the Verdin Company. After retiring, she worked part-time cooking for the priests at St. Thomas Catholic Church and caring for elderly people in their homes.
Faith and family were most important to Carol throughout her life. She was a devoted mother and stayed close to her children even when they were scattered throughout the country. She enjoyed travelling and made trips to South Carolina to see her son Tom, to California with Linda and Cherie, and to Chicago to visit Sherry and her family. Carol went on many memorable vacations with her sisters Barbara and Peggy. And she loved her summer trips to Hilton Head Island with Sherry's family, which allowed her to do two of her favorite things: enjoy the beach and the company of her grandchildren.
Carol spent the last years of her life in Cincinnati, close to all three of her children, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong faithful Catholic, with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Attending Mass and praying the Rosary were a source of great peace and joy for her. It is particularly fitting that Carol entered eternal life on the feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Saint Therese Church, 11 Temple Place, Southgate, KY 41071. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Saint Stephen Cemetery. Reception will follow at Paul and Sherry Green's residence.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Pregnancy Center Plus, 4760 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.stithfuneralhome.com
