Carol R. Cashel, 93, formerly of Noyes Manor in Sherrill and Canastota, passed away on early Sunday morning, January 31, 2021, at her daughter's home in Westmoreland surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 25, 1927, in Rochester, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth Swan Nodine. Carol was a graduate of Chittenango High School, Class of 1946.

On October 11, 1952, Carol was united in marriage to Harry F. Cashel, Jr., in St. John the Evangelist Church in Pulaski. Harry passed away on December 14, 1977.

Carol was a civil secretary for the Madison County Sheriff's Department for over sixteen years, retiring in 1991.

Carol was a member of St. Helena's Church in Sherrill and their Catholic Daughters. She was a member of the Vernon-Verona Seniors and the St. Joseph's Church Seniors. Carol loved to travel and go shopping with her friends. She was a fabulous cook and baker and was famous for her pies.

Surviving are her five children, Kevin (Kathy) Cashel, of Canastota, Susan (David) Hartwell, of Westmoreland, Nancy Stagnitti (Sal Ficchi), of Westmoreland, John (Cathy) Cashel, of Canastota, and Sally Curtis (Brian Leach), of Oneida; a brother, Loren (Esther) Nodine, of Red Creek; two sister-in-laws, Emma Nodine, of Canastota, and Shirley Nodine, of Oneida; eighteen grandchildren, Kyle Cashel, Kory Cashel, Adam (Nicole) Plato, Kellie (Michael) Olsen, Patrick Plato (Beth), Emily Brown (Brandon), Michael Brown (Delaney), Michael (Dana) Hartwell, Ashley Hartwell (Joshua), Eric Stagnitti (Andrea), Jason (Kaelyn) Stagnitti, Allison Stagnitti (Joseph), Angelo (Jadie) Ficchi, Jessica Jones (Brian), Kacey Cashel, Carly Cashel, Nolan Curtis, Halie Curtis (Ty); eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alexa, Lillian, Savannah, Layla, Bella, Angelina, Mason, Kevin, and one more on the way; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by a grandson, Kristopher Cashel on February 6, 1996; a sister, Norma (Stanley on June 26, 1996) Cunningham on September 5, 1990; and three brothers, Gordon A. Nodine, Sr. on January 9, 2018, John S. "Jack" Nodine on January 25, 2010, and Stanley E. Nodine on May 8, 2002.
