Carol Ann (Roan) Chissus passed into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 30, 2024. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on November 26, 1935 to William Douglas and Ora Beatrice Roan. Carol will long be remembered for her gift of music. She started taking piano lessons in the second grade, which led to a life-long ministry of music. As a child, she was involved in scouting and was a majorette in the band. In 1952, Carol graduated from Roosevelt School in Keego Harbor, Michigan, as class valedictorian. She worked for two years as a typist at The Cranbrook Foundation before marrying Daniel Hope Chissus on February 13,1954. They were married for 62 years. Carol was a loving wife and mother. She kept the books for their water well-drilling business and taught hundreds of children how to play the piano. She played the piano and organ for several churches, choirs, funeral homes, and many special events for over seventy years. Most recently, she was organist at Canton Grace Brethren Church in Ohio.
At the age of seven, Carol trusted Jesus to be her personal Savior. She was a Proverbs 31 woman and a great example to her family. In addition to her music ministry, she worked with the youth group and directed many Vacation Bible Schools and Pioneer Girls Clubs. Carol will be remembered for her card ministry. She sent cards to everyone she knew for their birthdays, anniversaries, illnesses, Christmas, and any other event that cards are made for. The United States Postal Service and everyone who was blessed to receive cards from her will miss her.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Jeanne), Pamela Schweizer, Kimberlee (Douglas) Potts, and Craig (Paula). She was a loving grandma to nine and great-grandma (Gigi) to thirteen.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, October 5, at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville, Ohio. Pastor Joseph Cosentino will officiate. Calling hours will be 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday afternoon prior to the funeral. Her interment will be at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan on Monday, October 7.
