Carol L. Coon of Gloversville, NY, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 at the age of 88, under the care of Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown NY, with her loving family at her side.
Carol was born on Feb 19, 1936 in Gloversville to the late Jack and Dorothy Chetwynd. She attended local schools, and graduated from Gloversville High School. She started her first job at Woolworth's Department Store in the plant department, then proceeded to work in the grocery field at the Acme Grocery Store, culminating to retirement from the Grand Union after 25 years of service.
Those who knew Carol will remember her infectious smile and laughter, her deep rooted faith in God, and her unwavering commitment to spread love and kindness to everyone she encountered. From making her famous Bread and Butter and Dill Pickles to her tasty Northern Baked Beans, she left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
She enjoyed taking trips with her family and friends, as well as her work in the Cub Scouts, PTA, Fire Auxiliary, Gloversville High School Class Reunions, Trinity Church Choir, volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, as well as participating in the Red Hat Society, and attending events at the Gloversville Senior Center.
Carol is preceded in passing by her husband Donald Albert Coon, with whom she shared of 64 wonderful years. She is survived by her three sons; Jeffrey (Robin) of Gloversville NY, Michael of San Miguel, Mexico, and Thomas (John) of Biloxi, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Jillian Clark (Wesley) of Amsterdam, NY, and Derrick of Gloversville, NY. She also leaves behind a brother, Jerry Chetwynd (Claudia) of Melbourne, FL, as well as many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at the Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 1:00PM with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. Donations in Carol's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.

I will always remember Carols beautiful flower beds and gardens! She lit up the neighborhood with her exceptional green thumb. She will be missed! I hope this loss brings unity to the family!
