Carol Crawford (Penning) Corporon, 78, of Sioux City passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at a local hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Morningside Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday, October 27, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brother Morningside Chapel.
Carol was born on September 18, 1947, to Margaret (Kallemeyn) and Clarence Penning at Ashton Memorial Hospital in Pipestone, Minnesota. At the age of two years and one month, her mother Margaret passed away. Then she and her brother Jack were moved to live with their grandparents Florence “Flo” and Martin Kallemeyn in Little Rock, Iowa. The family returned to Pipestone when her grandparents sold their store and retired to Pipestone and lived with Jack, Carol, and their father until their passing.
Carol graduated from Pipestone High School in 1965. She then worked at Lange’s Café for one year to earn money to attend Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls for one and a half years. She worked in Luverne, MN at IBP for seven years and was then united in marriage to David Corporon. The couple lived in Mason City, IA, Boise, ID, Fort Dodge, IA, and lastly Sioux City, IA. After being a stay at home mom until her youngest started school, Carol went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield for eighteen and a half years and then worked part-time for five years, followed by volunteer work.
Carol enjoyed teaching Sunday school for fifteen years and enjoyed all kinds of music and playing the piano, quilting with ladies at Church, playing cards and games, and time spent with her family especially at her most treasured Okoboji and Disney.
Carol is survived by her husband David Corporon; children: Jennifer (Chad) Bartlett and their son Jayden, Lindsay (Todd) Lippman and their children Kaitlyn and Alex, and Ayron (Jennica) Corporon and their children Eliana and Max, her brother Jack (Carol) Penning, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Penning, mother Margaret Penning and stepmother Eileen Brown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Carol to Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA.
