Carol Ann Elwart (Majchrzak) of Washington Township, formerly of Armada, passed away September 21, 2024, at the age of 79.
Beloved wife of Ronald; loving mother of the late Ronald James and Cheryl (Steve) Manchester; devoted grandmother of Ian and Macy; cherished sister of Judy Buxar; dear aunt of Tony (Claudia) Stein, Jerry Stein, Renee (Michael) Corker; aunt and beloved godmother to Robin Buxar.
Carol was born on January 8, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to Alexander and Jessie (Pollock) Majchrzak. She attended St. Hyacinth Elementary School in Detroit and when she was in 6th grade, her family moved to Centerline. Carol then attended St. Clement Catholic Schools, and played basketball and was a pitcher for the softball team. Carol graduated from St. Clement High School in 1962 after which she attended comptometer school and began working for the Sears corporation. That same year, Carol was set up on a blind date with Ron Elwart. They had their first date at the movies in Grand Circus Park, were married at St. Clement Church in Centerline on August 1, 1964, and were able to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year. They started their married life in an apartment and bought their first house in Warren in 1965. In 1976, Ron and Carol built their dream home on Pratt Rd, in Armada. When they became empty nesters in 1986, the two moved to Washington Township to live out the rest of their lives.
Carol's fondest memories were pitching for her championship women's softball team in Almont at age 52 and being a School Bus Driver for Armada Schools from 1979 until she retired in 2007. During her retirement, what brought her the most joy was attending her grandchildren's school and athletic events and celebrating their personal achievements. Her other interests included tending to her perennial garden, lunching with dear friends and fellow bus drivers, and winning many radio station prizes. She loved going on bus trips to casinos with her sister, card club and game days with friends and neighbors. Carol was very comfortable at home, loved feeding the squirrels, watching The Young and the Restless and the Game Show Network. She cherished every moment spent with her friends and her family. She had a warm and loving heart that was plain to see. Carol lived out her final moments in her home with her family by her side. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
A visitation for Carol will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024 starting at 1:00 pm with a 7:00 pm rosary and final blessing. Location is Tiffany-Young & Hauss Funeral Home, 73919 Fulton St., Armada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the GET INVOLVED | My Site (rimfoundation.org) and https://www.thecapuchins.org/donate.
