Carol M. Gergis, a resident of Mount Clemens, Michigan passed away on Friday morning, April 8, 2022 at the age of 71.
She was born September 19, 1950 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Morris E. and Gladia G. Bakeman Diehl.
In 1973 she was united in marriage to James A. Gergis. Later this year they would have celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary.
Carol was a longtime employee of Saint Joseph Hospital East and later at Saint Joseph Hospital West (now known as Select Specialty and Henry Ford Macomb respectively). Starting as a nursing station clerk, she advanced to medical billing. After almost 50 years of employment at the very hospital she was born at, Carol will be remembered as having had a close relationship with her hospital family, and will be miss. Carol was devoted to her family, and brought joy to them by making a beautiful home. She grew her flowers, listened to her favorite music and enjoyed dancing. Many memories were made and will be cherished, from the family trips to the KOA Port Huron campground. The family had reserved the same campsite for over 24 years.
Her survivors include her husband James, children Jimmy Gergis and Steven Gergis. She was the proud grandmother of Blaze, Aleea and Jimmy. Aunt Janice Hengy, uncle Edward Bakeman, niece Jan Diehl, nephew Chris Diehl, cousins and other extended family also survive.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth and brother Leslie Diehl. Carol missed her daughter very much. Butterflies had a special meaning for Carol. Whenever she would see a butterfly, she felt a strong connection to her late daughter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a Scripture Service at 5:00 pm at Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
Contributions may be addressed to 'wishes of the family'.
