Ruth Ann Schellkopf (90) of Harrison Township, Michigan, passed away on September 25, 2025, of natural causes.

Ms. Schellkopf was raised in Fremont, Ohio, the daughter of Carl Frederick Schellkopf Sr, one of a line of German cabinet makers, and Margaret Stevens Schellkopf (neé Frazer), onetime elementary school teacher and homemaker.

Ms. Schellkopf was preceded in death by four siblings, three brothers (Carl Jr, Harold and Arthur) and one sister (Margaret). Various nephews, nieces and a sister-in-law survive her and miss her.

Ms. Schellkopf most notably worked for many years at R.L. Polk & Company (after a brief stint training at IBM) in the nascent industry of computer programming. Per an advertising campaign of a different time: "(The) staff of programmers totals 48 - 47 men and one girl...." Ruth was that "girl." She rose through her career to become a supervisor in one of Polk's computing divisions. Ms. Schellkopf retired in 1994.

Throughout her life, Ms. Schellkopf enjoyed automotive as well as nautical adventures. She owned a series of boats and enjoyed piloting them in the Great Lakes. In addition, Ms. Schellkopf was to follow in her father's footsteps as the only one of the Schellkopf siblings to take up recreational woodworking.

Best and most important of all, however, she was caretaker to a number of beloved pets, primarily canine companions – Jake, Captain and Tim uppermost among them. The friends she has made throughout the years, latterly those in Harrison Township, Michigan will grieve her passing.

A private interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, Ohio among the graves of her immediate family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
